Christian Hansen, FMC Lexington:  Released:  30th March 2007.

FedCURE was contacted in December 2005 by the daughter of Christian Hansen.  Mr. Hansen who was 79 years old and incarcerated since October 2002 at FCI Ft. Dix, New Jersey, was in constant pain, could not walk, and was in dire need of medical treatment.  FedCURE negotiated a transfer to FMC Lexington in January of 2006.

FedCURE continued to assist the family with questions concerning health care and compassionate release requirements with the BOP throughout 2006 and the beginning of 2007.  Even though the BOP would not honor compassionate release due to their dispute over the terminal requirement, the family continued to persevere by contacting legislators and the sentencing judge with a plea of mercy and a quote of the guidelines not being honored by the BOP.

Christian Hansen was released by court order of the sentencing judge on March 30, 2007, at the age of 80 years. He would have had 4 1/2 more years to complete a 9 year mandatory sentence.  He traveled to his home in New Jersey on March 31, 2007 and has had 24 hr. in-home nursing care.  Just recently, he went to the hospital to fix multiple problems which developed and worsened during his incarceration.  He is now making excellent progress towards recovery.
